you may have.

“During especially discouraging times, it
is often helpful to take a break and spend some time evaluating where
you are, where you've been, and where you're going in your journey.
During times of evaluation, it is also helpful to read about other
people's homeschooling experiences. Turning Points is a wonderfully
encouraging book. Reading this book has helped to remind me WHY I am
homeschooling my own children. Our primary focus needs to be following
the Lord and teaching our children to follow Him by our example.”

What homeschooling parents are
saying about Turning Points:
|
|

|
|
“It was reassuring to feel that I'm not alone with the struggles
and frustrations that come with homeschooling and to be reminded
and remember all the joys of homeschooling. Any book that lets you
reflect on God's hand in your life and present situation is a
blessing; having one focused on my role as a homeschool mom was a
double blessing.”
-Janet Cox, TOS Research Panel |
|

|
|
“Reading of the positive
results gained by truly valuing children was an inspiration to me.
Turning Points offers heart warming stories, fitting Scriptures, and
enlightening statistics. I would recommend this book to those who
are questioning whether or not homeschooling might be a good
decision for their family. I, also, believe the book could encourage
those who are already homeschooling to stay on the high road.”
-Renee Green, Omaha, Arkansas |
|

|
|
“I am now able to look inside the lives of other homeschool families
and learn from their mistakes and learn from their moments of truth.
I have to say this journey for me has been hard, and I have been
trying different things for my own kids. I have been learning
only God can show me how to teach my children, and reading this
wonderful E-Book has shown me this.”
- Tammy Gould, TOS Research Panel |
|

|
|
“A huge plus of homeschooling is being able to tailor to each
child's learning style. This E-Book has that underlying in each
family's story in one way or another. . . It is a unique way to
"compare notes" with other families that homeschool and to feel
what they've gone through.”
-Nancy Chapey, Marble Falls, Arkansas |

“One sentence really spoke to me. It
said, "Once we truly comprehend that we are teaching
in the temple of our children’s hearts, our approach to
education outgrows the walls of any classroom and begins to
align with an eternal purpose." How many times do we
need to be reminded of this? I know I do. Daily. It has been
wonderful to read their stories. It helps you know you don't
have to be perfect. You just need to trust in God for guidance.
This e-book is very inspiring!”

Spot the solutions and
be inspired to succeed by reading the heart-to-heart
stories of
others. Here are
a few snippets from Turning Points’ authors:
-
“I
didn't even know where to start! The next day I went to the
library and checked out twenty-seven books on homeschooling! .
. . We figured I couldn't do much worse by the children than
the school had done.”
-
“Never
in the farthest reaches of our brains had we considered
homeschooling as a viable option for our family. . . In all
honesty, I believed that people who homeschooled were a little
strange. . . I won't sugar coat things—we had some trouble.
The beginning was rough and we wandered around a bit
aimlessly.”
-
“As
I look back over the past several years of schooling, I see
how God took a scared mom and a trusting little boy and molded
us into what He saw for our lives.”
-
“Instead
of talking to God about my fears, I secretly decided that I
was not going to homeschool. There was just too much at stake
and I could not risk having people looking at me and saying
I'd failed.”
-
“We
have all realized that it is not just the kids who benefit
from this homeschooling journey; parents also benefit from it!
So if you ask me, which do I prefer when it all comes down to
it—public, private, or homeschool—I will tell you about my
turning point back to where God led us from the very
beginning: educating our children in a home environment where
they are not afraid to be the willing vessels that He has
enabled them to be.”
-
“Wow!
How do you do it all? Well, don't be too impressed,
because my answer to that question is "not very well."
-
“For
me, there’s no looking back. I once had what I have come to
call my homeschool epiphany—when it’s all said and
done, it matters far less to me how many facts my kids have in
their heads than what sort of people they turn out to be. I
think that’s what homeschooling is really all about.”
-
"At that moment, God
spoke very clearly to me. School was like the 'king issue' for
me. All the other special needs kids went to school, so
shouldn’t mine go to school too? I was asking God for a king
when He had something much better in mind."
|
Don’t
get off course; it takes courage to resist contstant
pressures to conform to society. The world tests you everyday
and you are confronted with difficult choices and circumstances
to face. When you follow your True North you know that
your choices are right in line with His.
|
|
"I had no idea Turning Points was going to be such an incredible
[E-Book].
With the economy turning the way it is, many homeschoolers in my area
are having to send their children to public school so Mom can go back
to work. I believe this E-Book is very timely.
I think that it
could help many who are wrestling with the decision of what to do."
-Tamie Rickman, Turning Points contributor, Olalla, WA |
|

|
“I find it so interesting that while
each of these families have come to the same conclusion as I
have, that is to educate my children at home, they each have
such a unique background and experience. I think this
collection of essays has a great potential to encourage those
families considering homeschooling as an option, or those at
their own turning point, if you will.”

Turning Points is divided
into sections and chapters. Take a peek at the families you’ll meet
and the lessons you’ll learn along with them:
Leaving the Classroom:
Turning From the
Status Quo—Here are the stories of three families who really tried
to make the classroom setting work. These moms were involved in their
children’s learning, met with the teachers, and personally accepted
the responsibility to become informed. And where did this effort lead
them? To a Turning Point.
Turning From Bias
to Gratitude—These two families were confident in their
educational choices and thought their classroom plans were all set.
One, swore she’d never homeschool, and another was satisfied with
public school and had never truly considered any other alternative.
Read their stories, and allow yourself to delight in a deeper
admiration of how God took unwanted circumstances and turned and
directed lives toward joy and faith and success.
Turning to the
Power of Companionship—We meet three mothers, all of whom had
front-row seats to the classroom as they began to question what they
saw happening (or not happening) there and reached their respective
turning points, and the discovery of the power of companionship. Where
else but home, can true companionship be experienced and the love of
learning together be cultivated?
Turning Until Dizzy—This
chapter begins as a “what not to do” story, and in that respect
it loosely parallels the lessons in the adventures of the prophet
Jonah. The word of the Lord came to both. To Jonah he said, “Go to
Nineveh,” and to this mom he said, “Homeschool.” Though not an exact
correlation, you’ll want to be sure to read this one!
Plotting Directions:
The Abscissa—It is no secret
that God has created mankind with a wide range of talents and
abilities. In these stories we find children whose cognitive
differences range from gifted to learning disabled. How these families
faced their turning points is inspiring, sometimes poignant, and
always encouraging
The Ordinate—All
of us experience particular situations in life that generate emotional
and spiritual highs and lows. Changes in circumstances often can push
us to a turning point. These enlightening stories show us that
our homeschool does not have to look like anyone else’s, and they
reassure us that when God has given us a task, He will also show us
the way to carry it out.
Absolute Value—This
mother began homeschooling with one set of values, but over time, the
Lord “undid” her original reason to homeschool with new reasons and
values—to get a positive result. She discovered that the love of
learning is absolutely valuable.
Whose Idea Was It, Anyway?:
This last set of chapters contains a sampling of
life stories about how God moved in the lives of homeschooling
families. It will leave you with an understanding that not all
homeschools look alike, and not all homeschools find direction in the
same place, but for those who are seeking, there is one God who has
the answers they are searching for.
This remarkable E-Book also includes an
epilogue written by Pat Marcum, homeschool veteran, speaker, and
author; and concludes with a challenging call-to-action for every
Christian family.

“Turning Points
was one of the most inspirational homeschooling E-Books I have
ever read. If you only ever purchase just one book about
homeschooling, then this is the book. I will reflect on it
many times over the years and I know I will seek it out to
bolster up my courage when things are rough in our homeschool.
It reminds me that I am responsible for turning the heart of
my child to God and that this is done best in the home.”
