Meet the Staff – Advertising

Pat Marcum is a veteran homeschooling father, having begun his family’s homeschool journey with his wife and children in the early 1980s. A few years following his decision to teach his own children at home, and before curriculum was widely available to homeschooling families, Pat worked for Alpha Omega Publications as sales and marketing manager to Christian schools, AOP’s main market at that time. Pat has held management and executive positions in several companies marketing to the homeschool community over the last 25 years, including design and development of the successful, Homeschool Headquarters program, providing hundreds of Christian bookstores nationwide with homeschool products. Pat, who has been a staff writer for The Old Schoolhouse^® Magazine, as well as a conference speaker in the past, is currently an independent marketing consultant. He comes to TOS with a determination and commitment to help construct and maintain an unmatched sales and marketing division, making TOS a “household” name to every company with educational products and services to offer our readers.

Donna Campos is the Sales Support Manager at The Old Schoolhouse^® Magazine and has worked in the marketing and sales departments since May of 2009. Prior to officially joining the staff she worked as a product reviewer since August of 2006, so she’s been part of the TOS family for several years. She loves supporting the sales force and working at the heart of TOS advertising! She and her husband, Gabriel, recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Donna enjoys the excitement of having five children ranging in age from 4 to 24 and will become a grandma in 2012 twice, as each of her oldest two children become mothers. The character building opportunities of homeschooling has brought incredibly beautiful relationships with each of her children she thanks God for daily. Her mission is to help others seize the opportunity God provides in teaching our own children each and every day . . . “when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” Deuteronomy 11:19, KJV.

Heather Barrios is a Senior Advertising Representative at The Old Schoolhouse^® Magazine, LLC. She enjoys her time working and researching companies who will advertise their educational resources to the homeschool community. Even though Heather has only been included in this great team at TOS for a little over a year, she looks forward to many more years helping to support homeschoolers in their journeys. She and her husband (best friend) have homeschooled their children from the beginning. They feel that having a Christian-inspired home and truly being involved in their kids’ lives is the best blessing of all. Heather is grateful she can help homeschoolers in the two support groups she coordinates as a leader. Heather’s mission with TOS is, “to offer support to homeschool families through their journey with educational information and resources.”

Christine Hindle is a homeschooling grandmother who travels with her daughter’s military family. She has taught her daughter’s children from preschool to present. Christine has a Masters Degree and has worked for a federal agency in Washington, DC, in the accounting department of a major oil company and worked as a substitute teacher while the family was in Germany. She considers homeschooling her highest calling of all.
